SEYCHELLES

Definitely for the beach lovers out there, the Seychelles has the laid back feel of the East African coast along with the island hopping glamour and attentive service of the Maldives. The islands are split into the Inner Islands and the Outer Islands and if it’s luxury you are after then this can found on the main island of Mahe or the nearby Inner Islands. The white sandy beaches here are littered with massive granite boulders and palm trees and are extremely picturesque. Exactly which island or hotel will suit you depends on how you want to spend your time, whether it’s diving, playing golf, going on a spa holiday, exploring a bit of local culture, flora fauna by bike or honeymooning with your own private villa with plunge pool and privacy. There are some fun interactions to be had with the friendly Aldabra giant land tortoises on certain islands as well as a chance for birders to indulge in some coastal twitching and very rare species.

The Outer Islands are much smaller in size, largely inhabited and very remote; they are low lying and surrounded by coral reefs and they are a breeding ground for the Green and Hawksbill turtles. Thus they attract the diving and fishing enthusiasts mostly and those willing to sacrifice a lot of the luxuries of the Inner Islands for that Robinson Crusoe desert island remoteness and some first class under water experiences offering unparalleled biodiversity. It’s the perfect place for some island hopping, once you have travelled to the Outer Islands, to really see all that it has to offer above and under the water and to understand the brilliant conservation efforts underway there.
