YOUR HOLIDAY

The range of different types of trips to Africa is huge and varied, as is the accommodation which ranges from small and cosy guest houses, to traditional luxury tented lodges, mobile camping safaris, luxury lodges with plunge pools and private houses.  So do have a think about what you think might suit you:

  • Active vs. relaxed….bit of both.

  • Safari and wildlife – game viewing, photographic safaris, walking safaris, horse-riding safaris, camel safaris, gorilla trekking!

  • Beach and islands – diving, snorkelling, culture, relaxation, spa (not a large part of an African trip but it can be accommodated on different levels).

  • Adventure – this is where it gets a bit more raw and wild including sleeping out under the stars, hiking and camping with a local tribe, biking through the bush, helicopter safaris to remote spots for some quad-biking or sundowners up sacred mountains, biking and riding safaris, white water rafting.

  • Culture – there are some unique and jaw dropping experiences where you can spend time camping and walking with some of the few surviving semi-nomadic tribes in East Africa in particular (Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia) and some in Southern Africa (Namibia, Botswana) and visiting the rock hewn churches in Ethiopia is like nothing else in Africa for mind blowing history in action.

  • Luxury trips – it does take experience to really pick out the very best for those looking for ultra luxury to make sure that the value for money is there.  It’s not all about décor, style and food – the guiding when on safari is absolutely key to a successful trip and this is impossible to gauge on-line.

  • Privacy – do you like the idea of a private luxury (or lightweight mobile) tented camp or a private safari house?  There are a few very special private houses in Africa whether it be in the bush or on the coast.  So have a think about whether you are keen to sit around a traditional communal table for your 3 course dinner and chat to fellow safari goers about their day or whether you would prefer your own private house/family tent or camp.

As it’s a very tailor-made and collaborative process to create the perfect trip it’s always best to kick off with a good chat about what you ideally want your trip to look like.  It’s key for me to get a clear understanding of what is important to you when travelling abroad as well as to discuss when you want to travel, who with, what you want to do and see and the types of accommodation you prefer and, importantly, how much you want to spend.

Once I feel I have a good understanding of what you are after then it is my mission to thoughtfully curate an itinerary to incorporate as much as possible on your wish list (if not more!) within the given budget.

Let me use my knowledge, contacts and experience of travelling in Africa over the last 30 years to take the stress away from you and come up with a suggested itinerary for you to consider.  We can then discuss it further and tweak the itinerary together until it is just right for you.

I will provide:

  • Flexibility, honest and in depth knowledge driven by my passion for Africa and first hand experience.

  • Competitive prices – thanks to longstanding relationships with partners, camps, lodges and hotels on the ground.  It will cost you no more than booking it directly yourselves (not recommended in Africa anyway) and comes with a huge amount of protection and support on top of that.

  • Support throughout the whole process and whilst you are travelling – I am at the end of the phone 24/7 and I have long established and solid relationships with partners on the ground all over east and southern Africa who are also on hand to assist 24/7 in the event of a change of plan or an emergency whilst you are travelling.

  • You will receive your own personalised App prior to travel which will help you to prepare for your travels easily with all of the relevant supporting information at your fingertips in one place.
